Vice President, Inventory Management, Stores
Position Summary:
The Vice President, Inventory Management, Stores role is to lead a team responsible for forecasting, inventory planning, replenishment, and systemization through the analysis, implementation and use of inventory management systems. This position will develop strategies and tactics for improving operation efficiencies while improving service levels and reducing inventory levels as well as operation costs. This position is located in Medford, Oregon.
Essential Functions:
- Provide leadership in the planning, re-buying and allocating of product to maximize sales and reduce markdown exposure, while effectively maximizing cash management for all Harry & David Stores nationwide.
- Ensure compliance with established procedures and maintain effective internal control over the physical product flow and accounting of inventory receiving, shipping, and other inventory areas in both Retail and warehouse operations.
- Direct and coach the inventory team to meet or exceed stated sales, margin, inventory turn, in stock and forecast accuracy objectives.
- Lead the inventory management system implementation and use technology to innovatively achieve business process improvement, efficiency, competitive advantage and positively impact bottom line results.
- Direct the scheduling and ensure performance of physical inventories; establish and negotiate 3rd party inventory services as required.
- Ensure adequate inventory of product in accord with inventory cycles.
- Oversee the planning, scheduling, and general management of all inbound product.
- Conducts daily inventory analysis to solve inventory issues quickly such as locating product and processing inventory for pending sales.
- Develops and implements inventory control procedures.
- Coordinate communication with Accounting, Store, Marketing and Warehouse management and other impacted departments.
- Leads, directs, trains and manages an inventory team.
- Actively participate with peer group to develop and execute the Stores Division’s strategic and tactical plans.
Position Requirements:
- Bachelors Degree in Merchandising or related field.
- Minimum 6+ years of retail buying experience.
- Experience in visual product development preferred.
- 3+ years of management experience.
- Strong communication skills including the ability to listen and collaborate with cross-functional business partners.
- Possess strong presentation, listening, verbal and written communication skills.
- Possess knowledge of product development, production and licensing processes.
- Ability to motivate direct reports and cross-functional teams.
- Demonstrate the organizational ability to facilitate multitasking in a fast-paced environment.
- Travel required.
