Systems Engineer 1

Position Summary:

The Systems Engineer 1 contributes to the strategic objectives of the IT Division by installing and maintaining Operating systems and OEM Software and Hardware in accordance with the Systems Development Standards. Reports directly to the Manager. Functional reporting to Software Engineer III in performing normal duties. Functional reporting to Project Lead/Manager in a project environment.This position is located in Medford, Oregon.

Essential Functions

  • Determine business requirements, analyze, design, configure and install software and hardware systems, operating systems, utilities and language compilers as assigned under direct guidance.
  • Responsible for the installation of systems. Assist with the planning, installation and training for computer systems hardware as assigned under direct guidance.
  • Prepare all required documentation for the portion of work assigned as assigned under periodic review.
  • Provide technical assistance and problem resolution to clients for assigned applications. Ability to independently handle simple systems and technical issues without assistance. Off-hour, on-call responsibilities will be required as needed to support BCO’s business needs and/or project requirements as assigned under direct guidance.
  • Conduct unit, string and system assurance tests as assigned under direct guidance.
  • Actively pursue new technology knowledge, training and proactive problem resolution as assigned under periodic review
  • Conform to the Systems Development Standards when developing and maintaining systems as assigned under periodic review.
  • Conform to Problem Management Policies and Procedures when resolving assigned production support problems as assigned under periodic review.
  • Conform to Change Management Policies and Procedures as assigned under periodic review.
  • Conform to Corporate Security Policies and procedures as assigned under periodic review.
  • Establish and maintain a client relationship with a customer service perspective that is professional, courteous and respectful.
  • Acquire and maintain required business knowledge for the client area as assigned under direct guidance.
  • Provide capitalized labor time reporting as required under periodic review.
  • Produce periodic Status Report as assigned under periodic review.

Position Requirements:

  • Education – Two year college degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, related fields, and/or equivalent experience.
  • Experience
    • At least five years experience with either application development or operations experience.
    • Proven ability in all phases of technical and project documentation.
    • Proven ability to: support existing software and hardware and the skills required to independently install simple OEM software and hardware products.
    • Successfully demonstrating an ability to communicate effectively, work well with others, and use productive work methods; exercise sound judgment and display initiative and innovation on the job.
