Skilled Orchard Worker
Position Summary:
The Skilled Orchard Worker is responsible for performing all aspects of year round care and cultural practices required by the pear and peach orchards. This position must work unsupervised and make the decisions necessary to complete assigned tasks either alone or with the assistance of a small crew. This is an hourly paid position. Relocation assistance is not provided for this position. This position is located in Medford, Oregon.
Position Requirements:
- Minimum of one year experience at Bear Creek Orchards or equivalent experience required.
- Must be proficient in tree training.
- Must know proper limb and tree support and positioning.
- Must know proper pruning, spur pruning and notching techniques.
- Must be able to perform advanced irrigation repair.
- Must be able to properly move and set up irrigation hand lines.
- Must know how to safely burn brush.
- Must know proper thinning techniques.
- Must be able to safely operate an ATV.
- Must be able to safely perform hand gun pesticide application (with supervision).
- Must be able to reliably check frost sprinklers.
- Must be able to perform accurate crop estimating.
- Must know proper blight control procedures.
- Must be able to graft when required.
- Must understand and follow company policies.
- Must understand the basics of tractor operation.
- Ability to lead crew of up to 10 people during busy season.
- All other duties as assigned.
Skills Screening Requirements:

It is the responsibility of the applicant to complete their skills screening at the Harry & David Employment Center. Screenings may be taken Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
