Refrigeration Technician 2

Shift: Days: Sunday - Thursday

Position Summary:

The Refrigeration Technician 2 is responsible for performing operation, maintenance, problem solving and repair on all facility freon and anhydrous ammonia refrigeration equipment and systems such as compressors, evaporator coils, cooling towers and related high and low pressure fluid and gas piping, pumps and valves. The Technician works in critical cold storage and freezer rooms and production occupancies with computerized logic controlled electro-mechanical actuation devices and equipment to maintain optimum temperature conditions and achieve maximum energy efficiency for production and product protection. This position also performs and is responsible for strict monitoring and record keeping of refrigerant use, handling and storage to comply with DEQ regulations. This is an hourly paid position. Relocation assistance is not provided for this position. This position is on day shift, Sunday through Thursday. This position is located in Medford, Oregon.

Position Requirements:

  • Must have a certification as a Refrigeration/HVAC Journeyman and 3-5 years of experience.
  • Must have EPA Type Universal (I, II & III) Refrigerant Handling certification.
  • Oregon State Limited Energy Technician, class B Electrical License (LEB) and Ammonia Safety EPA 29cfr 1910.120(q) certification is preferred but not essential.
  • Excellent communication skills are required for effective interaction with company personnel and external business partners.
  • Good basic computer and writing skills are required.
  • Must have experience with direct digital controls (DDC) and related equipment.
  • Must have excellent mechanical aptitude and abilities with good analytical and methodical problem solving, trouble shooting and decision making skills.
  • Must have adequate vision, hearing and motor coordination to safely work at extreme heights, confined spaces and around mechanical and electrical equipment.
  • Physical requirements include walking, bending, crawling, reaching, stooping, twisting and lifting over 30 lbs, and the ability to withstand a production environment with exposure to dust, fumes and varying temperatures.
  • Must be able to work weekends and some overtime.
  • Must have a valid Oregon Driver’s License and a good driving record.
  • This is a safety sensitive position, subject to initial and follow-up drug testing.
