Environmental Services Specialized Custodian

Position Summary:

The Environmental Services Specialized Custodian is responsible for keeping the building in clean and orderly condition. This position will perform heavy cleaning duties, such as cleaning floors, spot cleaning carpets, washing walls and glass, and removing trash. In addition, the custodian will operate specialized custodial equipment used in maintaining hard floors and carpets as needed. This position is located in Hebron, Ohio.

Essential Functions

  • Scrub, strip, wax and burnish all hard floors, as needed.
  • Shampoo, extract and bonnet all carpets, as needed.
  • Service, clean, and supply restrooms.
  • Gather and empty trash.
  • Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming them.
  • Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment, in order to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
  • Mix water and detergents or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solutions, according to specifications.
  • Notify managers concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems.
  • Notify manager on supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties.
  • Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors, using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, and squeegees.

Position Requirements:

  • Education - High school diploma or GED certificate is preferred.
  • Experience - 1-2 years experience in a custodial or similar position is preferred. Experience with specialized power cleaning equipment is highly desirable. This position requires the proper use of cleaning chemicals and solutions.

Special Requirements:

  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends.
  • Ability to lift over 50 lbs occasionally.
  • Other physical requirements include walking, bending, reaching and stooping associated with sweeping, dusting, vacuuming, scrubbing and polishing.
  • Must have adequate vision, hearing and motor coordination to safely work in dangerous or high areas.
  • This is a safety sensitive position, subject to initial and follow-up drug testing. Trained and certified in blood-borne pathogens.
