Assistant Buyer, Stores
Position Summary:
The Assistant Buyer supports the Buyer in all aspects of merchandising, promotional planning, retail pricing, item set up, new vendor screening, and financial management activities. This position requires the ability to work well under pressure, meet strict timelines utilizing strong organizational skills, plus strength in developing and managing processes. No relocation benefit for this position. This position is located in Medford, Oregon.
Essential Functions:
- Assist the Buyer in driving budgeted goals in sales, margin, supply chain impact, and execution of plan.
- Work in conjunction with the Buyer, Product Development Manager and Inventory Management in developing distribution and display and promotional plans that meet corporate objectives and consumer needs.
- Analyze selling reports and recommend strategies.
- Assist with merchandise selection and execution of product development.
- Maintain daily operations and update systems data.
- Manage vendor relationships and external partner communication.
- Must have ability to make key decisions in these areas in the absence of the Buyer as well as communicate these decisions effectively cross-departmentally and to vendors.
- Communicate to stores via retail communications teams on new product launches, new accessory initiatives and store contests.
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Marketing preferred or equivalent experience.
- Two to three years of merchandising experience in a position requiring strong numerical skills. Experience in retail, mail order, or Internet environment preferred.
- Outstanding organizational and analytical skills, including proficiency in spreadsheet applications, preferably Excel.
- Ability to work with limited direction and specific direction.
- Detail-oriented, with strong emphasis on accuracy and team participation.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral) for effective interaction with all levels of company management and personnel and external business partners.
- Ability to perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment, consistently meeting deadlines with accurate and detailed results.
